Admin and Accounts Manager
Responsible for all financial reporting and statutory requirements, Tanya is also the go-to for all things payroll and admin. There is no such thing as a typical day for Tanya.
“We’re dealing with people and customers, so things can change quickly. A typical day for me is about me ensuring that the things that need to get done are done – fulfilling obligations with payments that are due, dealing with people’s issues and so on.”
With an accounting background, Tanya joined DEM for a change in scenery. She had no experience in the fire industry, though she did work a little in construction.
“Coming here, I had no real concept about fire safety. I don’t think many people have an inkling of what we do. Essentially, we save people’s lives. I love my job. Tom and Gary are so passionate about what they do, which really makes DEM so special as a company.”
Tanya was initially attracted to DEM’s family core values and the fact that she could fully contribute to the business.
“[In my previous position], there were constraints in terms of what I was able to contribute. I wanted to be a more integral part of the business decisions and growth. And that’s what I get here at DEM. We’ve experienced a huge amount of growth since I joined the team and it just keeps going.”
Tanya considers empathy as key in the accounts side of her role. She and her team are laser focused on responding to each query in a compassionate way.
“We’re passionate about fire safety. That’s why we do what we do. We want to hold ourselves to a high standard and give our clients complete peace of mind and complete satisfaction.”
Number crunching aside, Tanya loves keeping active. She has competed in a couple of Iron Man events and triathlons. She swims, bikes and runs. When she isn’t being run off her feet (literally), she enjoys a spot of crochet.
